Fifty one years ago this October, the Ensign Thaxter House in Hingham center was acquired from the Wompatuck Men's Club by a small group of community leaders with the promise that the historic building would be preserved and utilized as a cultural resource for the South Shore.
True to the original agreement, today, the Hingham Community Center is a social hub offering more than ninety organized classes and activities, numerous special events, and educational workshops throughout the year. From infants to senior citizens, the Center has something to offer for everyone.
As a non-profit agency, we rely solely on annual memberships, program fees, space rentals and donations from friends who believe that the Center's offerings are vital to the cultural enrichment of our community.
