Are you planning an event? Do you need to accommodate a large crowd? The Hingham Community Center (HCC), listed on the National Register of Historic Places, provides an ideal venue for family celebrations, school, and club events of all kinds, business meetings, and other special activities. The Community Center can accommodate up to 150 people and is ideally located in the heart of downtown Hingham. Our facility is available at affordable rates so that everyone can enjoy the beautiful Ensign Thaxter House.
Our rental space includes a number of charming features for hosting a unique event. Rental fees include use of Hingham Community Center tables and chairs and an onsite facility manager for the duration of your event. Renters are welcome to hire caterers and vendors of their choice.
Our 68' x 24' ballroom provides wonderful options for many events and activities. The room has a large non-working fireplace, a charming alcove with built-in benches, and beautiful French doors that open to the front reception room. The ballroom also has two entrances to our kitchen, which facilitates serving refreshments, sit-down dinners, or cocktail receptions. The ballroom rental includes the use of (12) 4' round tables, (9) 6' banquet tables, (72) lightweight armed chairs, plus additional folding metal chairs.
The Reception Room
The reception room includes painted murals dating back to the 1700’s, a non-working fireplace, and comfortable seating.
Folding doors open to our ballroom to accommodate larger crowds or dancing.
The studio is a an open space, 50' long by 17' wide, and is a popular spot for children’s birthday parties.
There is easy access to the courtyard, bathrooms, and kitchen. Rental includes the use of the adjacent board room to serve refreshments.
Classrooms and Conference Room
Our classrooms, located on the second floor of our facility, provide a perfect setting for business or club meetings.
The large classroom is 28'x 14' and the small classroom is 15' by 17'. Rental includes the use of HCC's tables and chairs.
